H.C. was born and raised on a farm in Fairfax, Missouri. He and Kathy were
married in May, 1973 and have three children. H.C. has always loved helping
people and especially young people who need direction.
He and Kathy were therapeutic foster parents and on the Iowa State Foster and
Adoptive Board for many years. HC volunteered at the local PRC where his wife
was the Director for 8 years.
Reaching out to fathers and mothers to help them become productive parents have
always been a major importance in his life. Every child at conception is a
living baby not matter but alive. God tells us that he knew us in the womb. Jer
1:5a "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you
apart;" NIV
My job as Executive Director is to make sure that mothers and children have a
safe place to live. We cannot do this by ourselves but we can with the help of
the community. For those of us that have been raised in a stable home
environment have no idea of what it is to live without knowing whether they will
have a home to sleep in or a meal to eat. We have dads that have no idea of how
to be a father and they come to us to learn how to be a loving and caring
father.
Neena Lord, Director of Client Services
Neena has been working in the pro-life community since 1998. She served four
years as the Director of a local Pregnancy Resource Center and continually
recognized the need for temporary housing and support for the single young
mothers and their babies. Out of that need, she and her husband began the Faith
Maternity Care Home with support from the faith community. Neena served seven
and a half years as both the Executive Director and the Director of Client
Services for Faith Maternity Care.
Recently Neena has made the move to devote full time as the Director of Client
Services. Her desire is to bring excellence to the current services provided to
their residents as well as to reach out to those in the community who are
experiencing unsupported pregnancies. As well as spending time with the
residents and clients providing services, Neena will also spend her time
developing new programs that will also benefit these young moms and their
babies. As Director of Client Services, Neena’s goal is to reach, educate, and
empower at-risk young mothers to become productive, self-sufficient individuals
intellectually, economically, socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Charles and Judy Lawrence, House Parents
Charles and Judy Lawrence have served as house parents for the FMC ministry
since 2007. Judy originally became a volunteer for the ministry when it began in
2002, later becoming a Board Member, and served terms as both President and
Vice-President of the board.
With Judy's persuasion (and the Lord's), Charlie also became involved as a
volunteer and later joined the Board of Directors and served a term as
Treasurer. Because of their involvement with the ministry, and listening to the
tugging on their hearts from the Lord when the house parents position was open,
the Lawrence's became house parents for the ministry.
Charlie is now looking at retirement and devoting full-time with his wife, Judy,
as a house parent. Charlie and Judy's desire is to help see the ministry
continue to grow and reach out to more clients. Charlie is excited about
devoting more time to Dad's Place, FMC's mentoring program for Dads. Judy and
Charlie's gifts are definitely hospitality, service, and sharing God's love with
our residents through Word and deed. FMC is richly blessed to have them serving
in this capacity.
